John & Kelly's Secret Son

JOHN Travolta, 54, and his wife, Kelly Preston, 45, just announced they want to try for their third child - even though they are being pressured to publicly acknowledge the disability of their son, Jett, 16, who suffers from autism.

Travolta pretends there is nothing wrong with Jett.
But parents of autistic children say that Travolta should join Sylvester Stallone, Jenny McCarthy and Toni Braxton, who all have autistic kids, in raising awareness and research funds to cure the disease.

One magazine editor who has interviewed Travolta more than once says that the star's son is disabled - and yet he continues to behave as if nothing is wrong.
"Travolta sits there in interviews talking about how Jett loves to read or play sports, but it is clear that the boy can barely do either," the editor said.
"Scientology is keeping him from acknowledging his son's autism. They see it as a weakness."

When Jett was young, John and Kelly took every opportunity to be photographed as the loving, perfect family.

Kelly was an up and coming beautiful startlet who was badly addicted to cocaine when she met John. She credits him and the church with saving her life. Cocaine addictions also lead Lisa Marie Presley and Kirstie Alley to the church of Scientology, but John's reasons were "much gayer."

Hollywood, Interrupted is reporting they had an interview with a Florida man named Tim Kenny who lives and works in John Travolta's neighborhood and has intimate knowledge of the goings on behind the gates of the Travolta airport home. Kenny is concerned that Scientologists, John Travolta and Kelly Preston, are ignoring their son Jett's case of autism so much so that Child Protective Services should be encouraged to get involved.

I don't think it's a stretch to call their treatment of Jett child abuse," Florida restaurant manager Tim Kenny says. Kenny says he met Travolta at his restaurant in February, and, after "comping" the movie star and his daughter a meal (per restaurant policy for celebrities),

he asked him
, "as one autistic child's father to another," if he "was doing anything special in terms of therapy" for Jett. Infuriated, Travolta responded, "Well, we involve him in the arts." Then, he offered to send Kenny a book, and high-tailed it out of the restaurant. "If I ever received a Scientology book from him , I'd find him, and throw it back at him," says Kenny. "Scientology is keeping him from acknowledging his son's autism. They see it as a weakness. That's what the space aliens are telling him I guess."

When Jett was young, The Travolta's were in a deep denial, (that remains to this day) made worse by their religious cult which refuses to acknowledge mental illness, blaming the person who is suffering.

According to the Church of Scientology, people with mental illnesses are "degraded" and capable of curing themselves by working harder on the church's teachings. Travolta's lawyer, Marty Singer, told Page Six:

"The Travoltas are wonderful, loving parents, and their priority is their children. They have taken and they continue to take the best possible care of their children. To suggest anything to the contrary is very hurtful to a loving family and also would be false and defamatory."

The Kenny’s also say that Kelly and John "let Jett sit in front of video games all day eating junk food, while they eat the best organic food money can buy. They exclude Jett from all social events because they are embarrassed."
"Once," reports Kenny, "when Kelly took him to the movies, Jett started to have a meltdown and Kelly pointed at the nanny and ordered, 'Take care of it.'"

"Jett does not speak at all," confirms Kenny. "He has not even been taught how to communicate. We struggle every week to pay for our daughter's therapy. How dare he Travolta ruin his own son's chances of recovering! We want to get the word out on this."
Kelly and John are embarrassed of Jett and Kelly spends very little time with him, if any. John recently said, "I love having kids around. They make everything so hopeful and wonderful.
"
Very much like the movie that gave his father his breakthro
ugh role, (The Boy in the Plastic Bubble) Jett lives in his own world, spending his days in front of video games eating junk food.
It's not that The Travolta's were private people who didn't want their children photographed. In fact, far from it. They have always made sure that their perfect daughter, Ella Bleu, be photographed on a reguar basis. While Kelly and Ella are inseparable, Jett is left to be raised by nannies.

As he grew, and the Travolta's could no longer hide their son's disease in public, Jett was rarely seen in public with his famous parents, who were "embarrassed of him." They did not want him photographed, and if he was, it was under the strict control of John. Image is everything, you know. As time went by, and without any treatment thanks to Scientology which says that he can cure HIMSELF, Jett has grown more withdrawn as his condition worsens.

Facing intense scrutiny from the media last year about their son's ongoing and untreated disease,The Travolta's arranged for an "Us" photographer to take these "candid" shots, calling it "Hawaiian Getaway" and captioning the shots with "Kelly Spends Quality Time With Jett." Those who live nearby in their small Florida town say this is something she never does, if ever. The couple were also facing charges of child abuse from their neighbors who say the boy is unreachable and could be helped through various treatments if it were not for their "religion," which won't allow them to even acknowledge his disease, let alone treat it.
