In his first public appearance since announcing he has deadly pancreatic cancer, Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa were at a Lakers Playoff game on Friday. He told People Magazine:

Thought I’d give you guys a little update. Lisa and I have been back and forth from New Mexico enjoying the arrival of spring and new baby calves. This past weekend, we spent a fun time with friends in Reno for Lisa’s birthday, where I took her jewelry shopping at Kenny G & Company and we were able to find her something really special and much deserved! In the meantime, I am continuing treatment at Stanford and the great news is I continue to respond well.

Patrick Swayze has been trying to live a normal life as much as possible, and is preparing for the end, transferring his property worth millions to his wife of 32 years, Lisa Niemi.

A source said: "Patrick told Lisa, 'I will always love you, and can't imagine how my life would have been without you'. It was very touching, and it's part of his final farewell to his wife as the end draws closer."

Patrick, battling pancreatic cancer, has had emergency surgery - the cancer had spread and part of his stomach was removed.

COURAGEOUS Patrick Swayze has run out of miracles, according to doctors who say the Dirty Dancing star has no hope of beating the pancreatic cancer that's killing him by inches. But the determined hunk is refusing to go down without a fight, and Patrick has one less thing to worry about... the paparazzi!

Swayze, 55, who’s been hounded by photo hunters since announcing last month he has pancreatic cancer, is secretly using a government airbase for his flights between the hospital at Stanford University and his home in SoCal.

A friend of the Ghost and Dirty Dancing icon says Swayze somehow got rare permission from officials at Moffett Federal Airfield, a former Navy base now operated by NASA near San Jose, Calif., to land the Beechcraft Super King Air 200 he pilots himself. Swayze takes the one-hour flight to Moffett bi-monthly for chemo treatments.

According to FAA literature, Moffett can only be used with special permission, and only if it involves government business.

Why the secret-agent scheme? I’m told Swayze didn’t appreciate the appearance of unflattering shots of him engaging in what you’d think would be the farthest from the mind of a cancer victim: Smoking! He wants fans to remember him as he was.

“He figures there’ll be no paparazzi at Moffett,” the source said.

Only military personnel live on the base, and folks who don’t work for the federal government are rarely allowed in.

He had just completed a session of chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer at Stanford University Medical Centre in California.
The 55-year-old star is in pain, but is still fighting and is determined to beat the pancreatic cancer that has ravaged his body, says his 81-year-old mother.

Heartbroken Patsy Swayze, a former Hollywood dance choreographer who encouraged her son to enter showbusiness, said: "Patrick doesn't deserve to get this. He's got such a big heart."

The actor is reported to be receiving radical new treatment, possibly as part of a clinical trial at Stanford University Medical Centre, a cancer hospital in California.

The magazine said this includes experimental drugs and transfusions of blood which has been treated with drugs.
Throughout it all Swayze has so far continued to work, and has been upbeat and cheerful, encouraging people around him, said Bow Trigg, a good friend who has worked on his ranch for years.

Mr Trigg said: "The thing about Patrick is that he isn't like a famous person. He is humble and never lords it over other people."

Swayze, who everyone on the ranch calls Buddy, enjoys barbecues and drinking beer with the hands, he added. "Sometimes we've gotten so drunk we have fallen off our horses."

Let me just say that I love Patrick Swayze because he's always been a sincerely nice guy. I've never said anything bad about him! This is funny though, and it's from The Best Week Ever. Plus, if I were him, I'd love this, and think it was funny. I mean, he's nice, but not a very good actor. I love his song "She's Like The Wind" (through my trees...) (yep he says that) though! He is a great dancer, so I mean he's very versatile. But acting is not his strong point. I just saw Road House for the first time the other night, my husband made me watch it. The National Enquirer said Patrick Swayze had five weeks to live, but Patrick says this isn't true. While The Enquirer has long been known to be the first to break the facts in important news stories (such as in the O.J. Simpson murder case), he says they are wrong this time.

Patrick, 55, has confirmed that while he does have pancreatic cancer, and that those suffering this disease do only have a five percent chance or less of survival,that he is responding well to treatment. "Don't write me off yet," was his response to this story. Let's hope he is right.

The source added: "He looks terrible. We don't think he's going to make it. Patrick's family and friends are so grief-stricken they can barely contain their tears and anger."

Sufferers of pancreatic cancer typically have a survival rate of less than five per cent, but as the cancer has spread around Swayze's body, he has an even lower chance of beating the disease.
