The most shocking story in Edward Klein's unauthorized biography, "Katie: The Real Story," is that Couric's marriage to Jay Monahan was on the rocks long before he died of cancer in 1998, and the only reason Katie didn't divorce him was her fear of negative publicity.She always made Monahan feel as if he wasn't good enough for her, and told him she didn't love him.
In the book, to be released by Crown Publishing next Tuesday, Klein says Couric was so chillingly calculating that cynics at NBC took bets on how long it would take her to exploit Monahan's death.

She was annoying enough on The Today Show, always so desperate for attention and trying to be funny. UGH.I'm excited for this book to come out.
