Us Weekly is reporting that a "depressed" Wilson went to St. Monica church on August 23, and it was his brother Luke, that found Owen with his left wrists slashed at home on Sunday, leading to Owen's hospitalization. A staffer at the hospital, was overhead saying, "Owen Wilson cut his wrists with a knife."
Courtney Love tells Us that she blames Owen's suicide attempt on her former boyfriend, (and friend of Wilson's), actor Steve Coogan, an actor featured in Owen's last two movies, whose high-flying lifestyle "could have been partly responsible" for Wilson's downward spiral. Even Woody Harrelson tried to stage an intervention back in May to help Wilson in Hawaii, with no luck.Today Love suggested that Coogan's drug-taking and bad influence pushed Wilson, 38, over the edge.Wilson, is recovering from reportedly taking a cocktail of illegal drugs, including crystal meth and OxyContin - also known as "hillbilly heroin" - and is a close friend of Coogan, 41.
"Under normal circumstances I wouldn't comment but I care too much about Owen," Love said.Love, 43, goes on to say that Coogan's friendship fueled Wilson's drug use - reportedly heroin and cocaine - his descent into depression and his attempt to take his own life.
"I went through it with Steve," said Love. "I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends."
