Lachey, who rose to fame in Newlyweds with warbler Jessica Simpson, is re-teaming with MTV to produce an unscripted “reality show version of Fame.”
The pilot is being called Celebrity Music Mentor Project. I was able to get an advance copy of the entire season, so I will reveal some teasers!
Students will live in a big house that has Nick's music piped into every room. The music loudly plays 24-7! Nick can pop in any time he wants, and quiz them on the lyrics to his songs, and I'll tell you, it makes for alot of tension and anxiety! You'll even get to see Nick and Vanessa clowning around on the weekends, as he has her pretending she's a dog for the whole day!
Later, we'll witness a fight that ends up with him sleeping outside on the hard pavement
and of course, we'll watch him watch "the game"!
In the second episode, hilarity ensues when Nick paints the kitchen, but he has to wait for the primer to dry so we're just sitting there watching him stand there waiting for the primer to dry.
It is non-stop action, and you'll be crying with laughter. We will see Nick's struggle to promote his Christmas CD... when the holiday is nine months away
Also, the show will examine the darker, more painful side of fame as Nick struggles with his identity as a man trying to have a SOUL-O career. Will he have to face that it may never happen?
Also, we'll get to tag along as cameras follow Nick to promote Hot Wheels cars, and some of his daily errands. The most shocking is- who would have thought that Nick Lachey can go to Village Inn, and eat breakfast without being bothered?!
In the end, Nick will choose a winner to mentor and that winner gets to hang out with Nick for 1 year as Nick expertly guides them through the music business. Warning! SPOILER ALERT! The season cliff hanger will be when Vanessa comes in and says to Nick: "Baby boy, we need to sit down and talk. NOW." That will be hard to wait until the second season. The best part? It will be on three times a week!
In one episode, Vanessa doesn't bring home any dinner and Nick is forced to eat a bag of pretzels. I thought I'd never stop laughing.
Best episode: Share Nick's blind fury as he comes in at second place when James Taylor beats him as Blender Magazine's "The Biggest Wuss Ever" in music, with Dan Fogelberg coming in at 3rd. Sure he would win, Nick's tantrum has him wondering if his big break will ever come.
